Welcome to PositiveSingles. If you are living with HIV in Denton, Texas, you may have discovered that dating can involve a conversation that other people never have to think about: when and how to talk about your status.
Maybe you have already experienced rejection. Maybe you are newly diagnosed and still figuring out what dating looks like now. Or perhaps you have been living with HIV for years and simply want to meet someone without having to explain your entire life before the first date.
We understand that dating is about much more than a diagnosis. Our HIV dating community gives you a place to meet people who are familiar with the realities of living with an STD, while leaving room for the things that make relationships meaningful: personality, attraction, humor, shared interests, and trust.
We want to be careful with local statistics because there is a difference between people living with HIV and new HIV diagnoses.
The latest Texas county-level surveillance report currently available from the Texas Department of State Health Services shows that 1,774 people were living with diagnosed HIV in Denton County at the end of 2021, equivalent to 188.4 cases per 100,000 residents. The report recorded 1,777 cumulative HIV diagnoses for Denton County through that date.
For 2022, Denton County recorded 94 newly diagnosed HIV cases, or 10.0 cases per 100,000 residents. That figure represents diagnoses made during that year; it does not mean that only 94 people in Denton County were living with HIV.
We use the older county-level surveillance figure because we would rather give you a verified number than manufacture a newer estimate. Texas DSHS continues to list Denton as an active location for HIV and STD services.
For someone looking for HIV dating in Denton, those statistics offer useful context. There is a real local population living with HIV, even though public health data cannot tell us how many of those people are currently single, dating, or looking for a relationship.
One of the biggest changes in HIV dating is something we believe everyone should understand: U=U, or Undetectable = Untransmittable.
The CDC states that people living with HIV who take treatment as prescribed and maintain an undetectable viral load have zero risk of transmitting HIV through sex.
That does not eliminate the importance of medical care or honest communication between partners. But it does challenge many of the assumptions people still carry about HIV.
For someone living with HIV, this can make dating feel very different from what it may have looked like decades ago.
You can still meet someone over coffee. You can still have a first date that turns into a second. You can still build a relationship around your interests and personality rather than spending every conversation talking about your health.
Your status matters when it is relevant to a relationship. It does not need to become your entire identity.
If you are living with HIV in Denton, local support goes beyond testing.
Aids Services of North Texas / Health Services of North Texas (HSNT) is listed by Texas DSHS as a Denton HIV service provider at 4310 Mesa Drive. Its services include HIV medical care, medical and non-medical case management, Ryan White eligibility referrals, housing programs, health insurance assistance, and an on-site pharmacy. DSHS also lists anonymous walk-in HIV screening for the general public on Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon.
HSNT's own recent reporting gives a sense of its current reach. In 2024, HSNT served more than 670 patients with HIV/AIDS across its North Texas service area and provided integrated behavioral-health care to 339 HIV/AIDS patients.
Denton County Public Health also provides confidential HIV screening in Denton and Lewisville. Its HIV/STI program includes testing, education, outreach, condom distribution, and linkage to medical care for people who receive a positive result.
These organizations are not dating clubs. That distinction is important. They provide healthcare and practical support, while a dating community serves a different purpose.
Dating does not always have to begin with dating.
Denton has an active local LGBTQ+ community, which can give you opportunities to meet people through social activities rather than immediately looking for romance.
OUTreach Denton organizes adult social activities and other community programs. PRIDENTON continues to organize LGBTQIA2S+ community events in Denton, with its 2026 calendar including activities such as Pride Path, workshops, community gatherings, and social events.
PRIDENTON's 2026 events have included activities around the Denton Courthouse Square, community workshops, a dance party at Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio, and Night OUT, where local businesses and organizations participate in a community gathering at Quakertown Civic Center and nearby downtown locations.
The local Denton Queer Orgs directory also currently lists smaller community groups such as Denton Queer Social Club, Denton Queer Sports, Queers in the Woods, Denton Queer Book Club, and Queer Crafternoon DTX.
These are not HIV-specific groups, and we would not describe them as HIV dating organizations. Their value is different: they provide opportunities to get out, participate in something you enjoy, and expand your social circle naturally.
We know HIV can make dating feel more vulnerable. But vulnerability does not mean you have to give up on relationships or lower your expectations for how you should be treated.
Some people will already understand HIV. Others may need accurate information. And some may decide that dating someone with HIV is not right for them. You cannot control another person's response, but you can choose relationships where honesty and respect go both ways.
That is what we hope our HIV dating community can offer.
If you are looking for HIV dating in Denton, Texas, you can meet people who understand the experience of living with HIV, start conversations without immediately having to explain everything, and see where a genuine connection develops.
You may be looking for a serious relationship. You may want companionship or friendship first. Either way, there is no reason your dating life has to stop because HIV became part of your story.
Welcome to PositiveSingles. Meet someone who sees more than your status, and give yourself the chance to see more than theirs.
