I think I may have double doses
I usually take my Biktravy pills at 11PM before bed. I just don’t know if I did. So I went and watch TV and all of a sudden, panicked at almost 12 AM, and took one pill again, I think? Should I be worried?
It's understandable to feel panicked when you're not sure whether you took your medication. Reaching out for clarity is a good step, and you don't have to figure this out alone.
Biktravy is a daily HIV treatment. An accidental extra dose is not generally considered likely to cause serious harm, though it may be associated with side effects such as nausea, headache, diarrhea, or dizziness. Since you're unsure whether your 11 PM dose was taken, avoid taking any more pills tonight. Don't skip or change your regular schedule on your own, because consistent daily dosing matters for keeping HIV well controlled.
Please contact your pharmacist, prescribing clinician, or a poison control center (in the US, 1-800-222-1222) today. Tell them exactly what you took and when, so they can advise whether any monitoring is needed and confirm your next dose. If you develop fainting, severe dizziness, persistent vomiting, or trouble breathing, seek emergency care right away.
Most accidental extra doses like this resolve without lasting effects, and getting professional guidance now is the best way to feel more certain.
