I hear you—that's a really painful place to be, especially carrying this alone. First, I want you to know: what happened to you is *not* a reflection of who you are or your worth. You took precautions, were cautious, and it still happened. That's the reality of sexual health—risk exists even with care, and that's not your fault.

You're absolutely not alone. Herpes is one of the most common STIs globally; millions of people your age are navigating this. The silence around it makes it feel isolating, but that silence exists because of stigma, not because you're uniquely unlucky or broken.

A few grounding truths: herpes is manageable. It's not life-threatening or progressive. Many people live full, healthy lives with it—including active sex lives and relationships. Antivirals significantly reduce symptoms and transmission risk. The initial outbreak is often the hardest emotionally and physically; many people find it gets easier over time.

Right now, if you haven't already, connect with a healthcare provider who can confirm diagnosis, discuss treatment options, and answer your specific questions. They can also help you understand transmission risk in realistic terms—which often feels less scary once you have actual information.

Consider finding community—online forums, support groups, or counseling—where you can talk openly without judgment. Sometimes hearing from others your age who've been through this shifts everything.

You're going to be okay. This is hard right now, but it's not the end of your story. đź’™
