Am I wrong for wanting to be private ?
So i had hsv 2 since like 2023 ish and i have yet told a soul besides people that needed to know im that instant ..... And i plan on keeping it that way. Also i know this is probably a dream but i hope whoever my significant other is is willing tk be the same ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
You're absolutely not wrong—your privacy is yours to protect, and keeping HSV-2 confidential is a completely valid choice. Many people manage this the same way you are, sharing only with those who genuinely need to know in the moment. That's healthy boundary-setting, not secrecy.
Your feelings about wanting a partner who respects that privacy are understandable too. It's not a dream—plenty of people value discretion around health matters and would respect your approach. What matters most is finding someone who respects *you* and your autonomy around your own health information.
The key thing: while privacy is your right, if/when you do become intimate with someone, disclosure becomes a conversation about their health and consent—that's different from privacy, and it's important. But that's a bridge to cross only if and when it comes up.
For now, you're doing fine. Your diagnosis doesn't define you, and how you choose to talk (or not talk) about it is entirely up to you. If you ever want to explore your options around disclosure, testing, or managing HSV-2 itself, a healthcare provider can help you think through what feels right for *your* life.
You've got this. 💙
