I suggested to use dental dams and condoms preforming oral sex but they said that’s what “hookers” do and got annoyed with me? I don’t want HSV orally I already have it genital and don’t want to pass anything on to him. What can I do?

I understand your concern about protecting both yourself and your partner during intimate activities. It's admirable that you're being responsible and caring by suggesting safer sex practices.First, I want to emphasize that using protection like dental dams and condoms during oral sex is a completely normal and responsible choice - it has nothing to do with any particular group of people. These are simply health safety tools, just like wearing a seatbelt or using sunscreen.Your desire to prevent transmission is both responsible and considerate. Here are some suggestions:1. Have an open, honest conversation with your partner about why protection matters to you2. Share educational resources about STD prevention with them3. Explain that this is about mutual care and safety4. Stand firm in your boundaries - you have every right to protect your healthIf your partner continues to dismiss your concerns or make you feel uncomfortable about wanting to practice safer sex, this might be a good time to reflect on whether they're respecting your health choices.Remember: You have the right to set boundaries around your sexual health, and a supportive partner should respect those boundaries. Consider consulting with a healthcare provider who can provide both of you with accurate information about HSV transmission and prevention methods.
