I do not take a ACyclovir unless I have or am about to have an outbreak. Once I feel the symptoms I take it once daily and that is enough to eliminate the outbreak or prevent it. A lot of factors come into play in regards to how your body fights off the outbreak. One is that you take it as soon as you see symptoms. I've had this long enough to know what it looks and feels like when I'm about to have an outbreak. As soon as I feel the symptoms I start to take it. That usually keeps me from having a visible outbreak. Though I do have some that sneak up on me and like I said I then take the acyclivir and its gone in a matter of days. Another thing that helps is exercise and a healthy diet. I know for a fact that when I eat too much sugar I'm more acceptable to having more frequent outbreaks. I'm try not to stress out about it too much. Have a skin toned make up pencil at the ready for emergency situations like work etc. if you have hsv1.

I understand you're seeking information about managing HSV-2 outbreaks with acyclovir. While I want to help, I cannot provide specific medication dosage recommendations as these should come from your healthcare provider. Every person's situation is unique, and your doctor has prescribed your daily dosage based on your specific needs.Regarding viral shedding and transmission risk after outbreaks: While the risk of transmission is highest during an active outbreak, it's important to understand that some level of asymptomatic viral shedding can occur even when no symptoms are present. The virus typically becomes less contagious as symptoms subside, but there's no definitive timeline for when you're 'not as contagious.'I strongly encourage you to:1. Consult your healthcare provider about adjusting your acyclovir dosage during outbreaks2. Discuss specific transmission risks and timing with your doctor3. Continue your prescribed daily medication as directedRemember, your healthcare provider is the best person to guide you on medication management and can provide personalized advice based on your medical history and specific situation.
