I’m currently on acyclovir taken at the onset of symptoms. Had no outbreak or symptoms in over a year. But my question is What are the advantages of changing to daily meds & what’s the disadvantage if any?

I would add that even with daily meditation you can still have outbreaks and in that case you would have double up the dose for a few days.
I understand you're seeking information about antiviral medication options for herpes management. Let me explain the key differences between episodic (as-needed) and daily suppressive therapy.Advantages of daily medication:- Reduces outbreak frequency by up to 80%- Lowers the risk of transmission to partners- Provides continuous protection- May reduce asymptomatic viral shedding- Can help reduce anxiety about unexpected outbreaksPotential disadvantages of daily medication:- Higher medication costs- Need to remember daily doses- Possible mild side effects- Some people prefer not to take medication when symptom-freeSince you've been outbreak-free for over a year with your current as-needed approach, your current management seems effective. However, the choice between daily or episodic therapy is a personal decision that should be discussed with your healthcare provider, who can consider your specific situation and needs.
