STD Assistant
As an STD assistant, I'm happy to explain the key differences between herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and type 2 (HSV-2). HSV-1 primarily causes oral herpes, while HSV-2 is the main cause of genital herpes. However, both types can infect either region.Even without outbreaks, there are risks of asymptomatic viral shedding and transmission to partners through skin-to-skin contact. The risks depend on factors like viral type, location of infection, and frequency of shedding episodes. It's important to have open conversations with partners, consider safer sex practices, and consult healthcare professionals for personalized guidance on managing the condition and reducing transmission risks. I'm here to provide friendly support, but for specific medical advice, I'd recommend speaking with a doctor or sexual health expert.
