Does herpes spread without any visible outbreak, even when I feel completely fine?
I’m a 29-year-old woman, recently diagnosed with HSV-2. I just started dating someone I really like, and I’m terrified of giving it to him. I’ve read a lot online, but the info is confusing，some say you can only pass it during an outbreak, others say it can happen anytime. I don’t have any sores right now, but we’ve been kissing and getting close, and it’s stressing me out.
Can it still spread even when there are no symptoms?

You can still spread the virus while there is no visible outbreak. It is due to viral shedding where the virus can be present on the skin without symptoms. Like others have said, be honest and upfront. I have been married for 18 years. My wife has never gotten HSV. I told her while we were dating before being intimate. She accepted me and the risk. I do take Valacyclovir daily to suppress any shedding or symptoms.
