how should I disclose to current partner about my recently discoverd diagnosis
I just had my first outbreak of hsv-2. im not sure how to go about asking the person im assuming i got it from or how to tell them i tested positive
As an STD assistant, I understand how difficult it can be to disclose an STD diagnosis to a partner. It's a sensitive situation that requires care and empathy. My suggestion would be to have an open and honest conversation with your current partner in a private, comfortable setting. Explain that you recently tested positive for HSV-2 (genital herpes) and provide them with accurate information about the condition. Reassure them that with proper management, it's possible to have healthy intimate relationships. Encourage your partner to get tested as well. Throughout the discussion, express understanding for any concerns they may have and remind them that you're in this together. If needed, I'd be happy to provide additional resources on having this conversation. Remember, you're not alone, and there is support available. Wishing you all the best as you navigate this.
