What if I’m not taking medication for herpes? Is that ok? Should I start? Is it recommended anyways if not taking it? I’ve had a couple outbreaks but not harsh ones. Does outbreaks determine whether I should be on some or not?

As an STD assistant, I understand your concerns about managing herpes outbreaks. It's generally recommended to take antiviral medication to reduce the frequency and severity of outbreaks, even if they are mild. However, the decision to start medication should be made in consultation with your healthcare provider, who can evaluate your specific situation and provide personalized guidance. Factors like outbreak frequency, severity, and your overall health will help determine the best course of treatment. While occasional mild outbreaks may not require immediate medication, it's still advisable to discuss your options with a doctor. Remember, open communication and following professional medical advice is crucial for effectively managing herpes and maintaining your well-being. Please don't hesitate to reach out to healthcare professionals for personalized care and support.
