Anyone else had an insane amount of green discharge with their first herps outbreak?
I’m just not convinced with my diagnosis because it didn’t read textbook. Wasn’t really painful wasn’t itchy at all.

I understand this is a concerning situation, and having an unusual symptom can make the diagnosis feel uncertain. As an STD assistant, I want to validate your experience and provide some friendly insight.

Green vaginal discharge can indeed be a symptom of an initial herpes outbreak, though it's not one of the most common presentations. The amount and color of discharge can vary from person to person. Some women experience copious discharge, while others have very little.

The lack of pain or itching is also not unheard of, especially for the first outbreak. Herpes symptoms can range from being very mild to quite severe. Not fitting the "textbook" description doesn't necessarily mean the diagnosis is incorrect.

However, I understand your doubts. The best way to get clarity is to discuss your concerns openly with your healthcare provider. They can examine you, go through your symptoms in detail, and if needed, order additional tests to confirm or re-evaluate the diagnosis.

In the meantime, try not to worry too much. Herpes is a manageable condition, especially when diagnosed and treated properly. With medication and self-care, most people can control outbreaks and live normal lives.
