Valacyclovir daily?
I know some people that take the pills daily to suppress the chance of a break out.
I was instructed to only take at the first symptom of an outbreak. For 5 days. Then not again till next outbreak. Does it actually lessen the chances of an outbreak to take daily? Or best to just follow instructions.

I didn’t take it with my first outbreak. But I’ve had it for 38 years. So I find that when I get really stressed out, I will have an outbreak so I went on the Valtrex prophylactically that means every day to prevent it. I did that like 10 years ago and I have beenoutbreak free. It’s worth my mental status to do that for me.

I’ve found it does at least for me. I’ve been on Valacyclovir for sometime now and it seems to do its job. First two days are the absolute worst but by the third day everything’s mainly cleared up. I think it mainly depends on the person and their body

I took it when I was first diagnosed. I was also given the option to take it regularly. That was back in 2013, never took it again after I finished the first script. Never had a second breakout. However, every one is different. It’s really your choice.
