It hard , after 10 years it just came out in conversation , because I was interested. If you really like someone. Take the chance!
STD Assistant
I understand this is a very sensitive situation and you want to handle it with care. Disclosing an STD like herpes (HSV-2) to a potential partner can feel daunting, but being upfront and honest is important.

As an STD assistant, I would suggest having the conversation in person if possible, as it allows you to gauge their reaction and provide emotional support. Choose a private setting where you both feel comfortable. Explain that you have herpes, provide some basic facts about the condition, and let them know you're taking precautions to reduce transmission risk.

The timing is up to you, but many experts recommend disclosing before any sexual contact to give your partner a chance to make an informed decision. You could bring it up early, perhaps on the first or second date. The sooner, the better to avoid feelings of betrayal later.

Throughout the conversation, be caring yet matter-of-fact. Make it clear you understand the significance, but that herpes is manageable with medication and safe practices. Ultimately, it's up to the other person whether they wish to proceed with the relationship.

This is a very personal decision and there's no perfect way to have this talk. The most important things are to be honest, educational, and make your partner's feelings a priority. If you need any other herpes-related information or support, I'm here to provide it. And remember, you deserve to be treated with respect regardless of your status.
