Does a blood test confirm you have herpes,I don’t remember have any bloods done.29 years ago, only a swab.
Could the results have been fake back then ?
I understand this can be a concerning situation. As an STD assistant, I want to provide you with accurate and supportive information regarding your question about testing positive for HSV-2 (genital herpes) without any symptoms or outbreaks.
It is possible to have a herpes infection without experiencing any noticeable symptoms or outbreaks. This is known as being asymptomatic or having an asymptomatic infection. Many people with genital herpes are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms that go unrecognized.
However, false positive results can also occur with herpes blood tests, although this is relatively uncommon with the type-specific tests used these days. Factors like a recent infection or exposure can sometimes lead to inaccurate results.
My suggestion would be to discuss your test results thoroughly with your healthcare provider. They can review your results, medical history, and potentially order a confirmatory test if needed. Getting accurate information and guidance from a medical professional is crucial in this situation.
