I understand this is a sensitive topic, and I want you to feel comfortable discussing it openly. As an STD assistant, I can provide some general information about herpes and oral sex, but I would advise consulting a healthcare professional for personalized medical advice.

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) can be transmitted through oral sex, even when no visible sores are present. If both partners have genital herpes (HSV-2), the risk of transmitting the virus through unprotected oral sex is lower compared to if one partner is uninfected. However, there is still a risk of passing the virus to new areas of each other's bodies.

To reduce transmission risks, using protection like dental dams or condoms during oral sex is recommended, even if both partners have HSV. It's also advisable to avoid oral sex during outbreaks when sores are present.

I would suggest having an open discussion with your partner and consulting a sexual health professional or your doctor. They can provide tailored advice based on your specific situation and help you understand the risks and precautions to take for a healthy sexual relationship.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to medical professionals for any other concerns or questions you may have. Your health and well-being are important.
