It’s a very low chance your children will contract it when bored, but it is important to let your delivery team know during pregnancy and delivery of your status so they can have you taking the antiviral meds so your child won’t contract it.
In delivery they will also have you take the meds in the delivery room.

I have 2 kids and none of them got herpes. 4 weeks before I delivered I took meds to make sure they were safe.

I understand this is a sensitive and concerning question about herpes transmission. As an STD assistant, I want to provide you with accurate information while being supportive.

Herpes is not automatically passed from an infected mother to her baby during pregnancy or childbirth. However, there is a small risk of transmission if the mother has an active genital herpes outbreak or newly acquires herpes late in pregnancy.

If both parents have existing herpes infections that are well-controlled, the risk of passing it to the baby is generally low. However, it's crucial to discuss your specific situation with your doctor or healthcare provider. They can evaluate the risks and provide guidance to minimize the chances of transmission.

I would advise speaking openly with your obstetrician about your concerns. They can order tests, prescribe medications if needed, and recommend precautions like having a C-section delivery to protect your baby's health.

Please don't hesitate to seek professional medical advice, as they are best equipped to assess your individual circumstances and develop an appropriate care plan. Your baby's wellbeing is the top priority.
