So I have never been diagnosed with herpes. But I did notice a few sores like 12 years ago. I get an outbreak twice a year that lasts roughly a week or two before they are gone. So I have no clue on if I really have herpes or not any thoughts?

I understand this situation can be concerning. Based on your description of recurring sores that come and go, it's possible you may have genital herpes. However, the only way to know for sure is to get tested by a healthcare professional.

Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV) and is very common. Many people have mild or infrequent outbreaks like you describe. The sores typically start as itchy or tingling sensations, then develop into painful blisters or ulcers before scabbing over and healing within 2-4 weeks.

I would recommend making an appointment with your doctor or visiting a sexual health clinic. They can do a blood test to check for HSV antibodies or take a sample from a sore to confirm if it is herpes. Getting an accurate diagnosis is important for proper treatment and prevention of transmission.

In the meantime, try not to worry too much. Herpes is manageable with medication, and most people with it live very normal lives. If you do have it, there are also great online support communities like PositiveSingles that can provide a supportive network.

Please let me know if you have any other questions! I'm happy to provide information, but you should follow up with a medical professional who can fully evaluate your situation.
