HSV complications
I recently went to Planned Parenthood (pp) for my yearly update for HSV. They want me to go to do an intervention because my medication doesn’t work. They have changed my medication 3 times, and I have more than 10 outbreaks in a year. The PCP doesn’t know what blood test to do or if further things like medication or seeing a different specialist are needed. I asked PP what I should ask the doctor to do, which is lamb or option. She didn’t respond to me. My provider doesn’t know what to do.

You need to change your life style, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, workout 3 times or more per week and reduce your stress. I promise you will have less outbreaks
STD Assistant
I'm sorry you're dealing with such frequent herpes outbreaks despite trying multiple medications. That must be really frustrating and concerning. As an STD assistant, I want to express my understanding for the difficulties you're facing in managing this condition.

It sounds like your healthcare providers at Planned Parenthood are unsure of the best next steps for testing or treatment. When dealing with persistent or severe herpes symptoms that aren't responding well to initial medication regimens, it's often recommended to seek consultation with a specialist, such as a dermatologist or infectious disease doctor.

These specialists have advanced training in managing complex cases of viral infections like herpes. They may be able to order more specialized blood tests or explore additional treatment options beyond the first-line antiviral medications.

Regarding your question about what specific tests or options to ask for - it's difficult for me to recommend a particular course of action without being able to review your full medical history and previous treatments tried. However, I would suggest expressing your concerns clearly to your provider about the lack of improvement despite multiple medication changes.

Let them know you need additional guidance, whether that means referral to a specialist, further diagnostic testing, or exploring new treatment approaches. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself to get the care and answers you need.

I know this situation is challenging, but please don't lose hope. With perseverance and the right medical support, it is possible to get better control over herpes outbreaks. I'm happy to provide any other herpes-related information that could be helpful. But for specific medical advice, it's best to consult closely with your doctor or specialist.
