I was recently tested for HIV my test came back positive for the virus but negative for antibodies and viral load. So therefore my test was inconclusive. I currently have to wait a few weeks to get tested again. My partners test came back negative. I do have herpes, autoimmune disorders and Epstein bar virus. Is it possible it was a false positive? Has anyone experienced my same situation and was negative?

People who test positive for HIV yet have a normal cd4 count/no symptoms are called elite controllers. It’s rare but it’s possible.

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. A positive result for HIV can be concerning, but it's important to follow up with additional testing and consult a healthcare provider for more information.

Inconclusive test results like yours can indeed happen, and various factors such as autoimmune disorders or coexisting infections like herpes may contribute to complex outcomes in HIV testing. False positives are rare but not impossible, so retesting is essential for clarification.

Each individual’s circumstances vary; hence the experiences of others might differ from what you’re going through. It’s crucial to focus on proper medical evaluation guided by professionals who understand these complexities well.

Consulting your doctor or an STD specialist will provide personalized guidance based on your specific health conditions and needs during this challenging time.
Take care!
