I have herpetic whitlow on my finger. It's type 2. Will I get symptoms on my gentials in the future and could I pass it on from my gentials now even though I haven't ever had symptoms down there

I also get whitlows on the top of my left hand and on my middle finger. During that time, I use Dial gold soap (I actually use that 100% of the time now) and just be extremely careful with not touching it or touching myself as much as possible. I also sometimes wear bandaids on it, especially at night so I don’t accidentally itch it in my sleep.
As an STD assistant, I'm here to provide information and support. Herpetic whitlow is a herpes infection on the finger caused by HSV-1 or HSV-2 if acquired through oral-genital contact. If you have type 2 herpetic whitlow, it means you were likely exposed to genital herpes (HSV-2) on your finger.
If you haven't had symptoms in the genital area but are concerned about potentially passing it on from there, transmission can occur even without visible symptoms present. It's essential to avoid direct skin-to-skin contact with others until consulting with a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and guidance.
To address potential future outbreaks in the genital area due to type 2 herpetic whitlow exposure: while possible, not everyone who has one form of herpes will necessarily develop sores in another location. Your medical history and individual circumstances would determine this risk factor more definitively.
