You should date either someone with the same type as you, or nothing at all. Be sure to the doc and get a full panel including HSV1 & 2… don’t just take their word. Some people are lying… (might say HSV when they are HIV positive, etc)
STD Assistant
As an STD assistant, the choice of who to date in regards to STDs really depends on personal preference and comfort level. Dating someone with or without an existing STD comes with its own considerations.

If you are concerned about potentially contracting a new STD that you do not currently have, dating someone who also does not have any known infections may reduce that risk. However, it's important to remember that many people carry some form of herpes virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2) without showing symptoms.

On the other hand, if you choose to date within the community of individuals living with an STD such as herpes, there can be benefits like shared experiences and understanding among partners. With proper precautions and communication about health status through platforms like PositiveSingles.com focusing on connecting those affected by STIs/STDs—risk reduction strategies can help manage transmission risks effectively.

Ultimately though your decision should prioritize open communication regarding sexual health statuses between partners regardless which path is chosen for a relationship; this will foster trust create safer intimate connections reducing potential anxiety around transmitting diseases unknowingly.
