in my opinion, if you go to the GYN, just ask for a full suite of STD testing. I found out on accident because my doctor thought I said I wanted to test for it.

I have hsv2 and I’ve never had a breakout or any symptoms. It does happen.
If you had protected sex with someone who has asymptomatic HSV-2 and have not experienced any symptoms for almost a year, it's understandable to feel uncertain. Your doctor advised against testing due to the lack of symptoms, but if you still have concerns or want further clarification, consider discussing your worries with them again.
It's also essential to continue practicing safe sex methods like using condoms consistently and openly communicating with partners about sexual health. If at any point you notice unusual changes in your body or develop concerns related to STDs, don't hesitate to seek guidance from healthcare professionals for personalized advice tailored to your situation.
Remember that open communication with medical experts can provide reassurance and clarity on how best to manage potential risks associated with herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2). Take care!
