What is the difference between HSV1 G and HSV2 G and if we aren’t using a condom I’m obviously going to get HSV2 G. Will my symptoms be worse than what I already experience?

As an STD assistant, I'm here to help with your question about HSV1 and HSV2.

HSV-1 (herpes simplex virus type 1) typically causes oral herpes or cold sores around the mouth, while HSV-2 (herpes simplex virus type 2) usually leads to genital herpes.

If you already have symptoms from one strain of herpes and then contract another strain without using protection like a condom, it's possible for both viruses to coexist in your body. The severity of symptoms can vary depending on individual factors such as immune system strength and overall health.

It is important to note that getting tested by a healthcare provider is crucial if you suspect you may have contracted either form of the virus. They can provide guidance on managing symptoms effectively through medication options tailored specifically for your situation.
