HSV-2 oral infections are rare. Still, avoid skin-to-skin contact during active outbreaks.

Yes you can still spread it if you are shedding. Take antivirals for 2 days before any sexual activity to significantly reduce the risk.

If a man performs oral sex on a woman with genital HSV-2, there is still a risk of transmitting the virus. While it's less likely than during intercourse, the herpes simplex virus (HSV) can be spread through skin-to-skin contact in the genital area. It's important for both partners to discuss and understand their risks and consider using protection or antiviral medications to reduce transmission likelihood. If you have any concerns about sexual health or herpes management, consulting healthcare professionals can provide personalized guidance and support specific to your situation.
