If you or your partner have genital herpes (HSV-2) and there are no active sores present during oral sex, the risk of transmitting the virus to other parts of the body, including the face, is significantly lower. However, it's important to note that herpes can be transmitted even when sores are not visible through a process known as viral shedding.

Herpes simplex viruses HSV-1 and HSV-2 target different areas of the body but can manifest in both oral and genital regions. While receiving or giving oral sex without protection may carry some level of risk for transmission between partners if one has an active outbreak on their genitals.

To reduce this risk:
1. Communicate openly with each other about any outbreaks.
2. Use barrier methods like dental dams or condoms for any sexual activity.
3. Avoid contact with open sores altogether until they have fully healed.

It would also be beneficial for both individuals to consult healthcare professionals who specialize in STDs for personalized advice regarding minimizing transmission risks while engaging in intimate activities safely together
