While HSV 1 and 2 can still be shed even when no symptoms are present, using antiviral medication reduces the risk of transmission. However, it's important to communicate openly with your partner about your condition. Touching or playing in intimate areas like the vagina carries a low but not zero-risk of transmitting herpes, especially if there is direct skin-to-skin contact without barriers like gloves or condoms on toys. It might be helpful for both you and your partner to discuss safer ways to enjoy intimacy while minimizing the risks involved.

For specific advice tailored to your situation and concerns regarding physical touch during non-outbreak periods despite taking antivirals daily, consult a healthcare provider who can provide personalized guidance based on individual health factors as well.
