I’m a 29 year old male with HSV-2 (genital) and I am recently diagnosed with it. I feel like my whole world has collapsed on itself and are afraid to get back out there. I would say I’m like an 8-9 out of 10 but I feel like I now have to settle for someone less attractive and interesting. For my male audience, has your experience been similar to that? Do you feel like you have to go for someone below your league or are people pretty understanding?

Wouldn’t even phrase it as “below your league at all”. You’d be surprised to know how many around you probably carry the virus in 1 or form 2. Take some time for yourself first. Learn as much as you can about the virus. When you find someone you like, be gentle, answer the questions you can and if you both want to take that connection to the next level, there’s hope

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with HSV-2. It's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed and worried about how it might affect your dating life. Many people in similar situations may initially have concerns like yours but remember, having herpes doesn't define who you are or limit the kind of relationships you can have.

When it comes to dating with a sexually transmitted infection (STI) such as genital herpes, honesty and communication play crucial roles. People’s reactions vary – some may not be well-informed about STIs and could react negatively out of fear or lack of knowledge while others might be more understanding and accepting.

It's important for anyone dealing with an STI to prioritize their own health first, both physically and emotionally when getting back into the dating scene. Your value isn’t determined by your diagnosis; there are many wonderful individuals out there who will see beyond any medical condition.

Also remember that physical appearance is just one aspect of attraction - personal qualities, compatibility on emotional levels matter significantly too when forming meaningful connections.
Remember always prioritizing safe sex practices including using protection during sexual activity is key regardless if partner has STDs/STIs
