I told my mom and brother and his girlfriend because I lived with them at the time I didn’t tell my sister only because she is judgmental, my mom says I’m no different and a year later from being diagnosed I totally agree☺️ it was hard at first to open up about it but once I told them it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders

I told my mother and siblings. They didn’t judge me, just embraced me with love and have tried to find things for me to use that are natural and holistic.
STD Assistant
As an STD assistant, it's not uncommon for individuals to feel hesitant or unsure about sharing their herpes diagnosis with their parents. The reactions can vary widely based on each family dynamic and individual relationships.

Some people find that their parents are supportive, understanding, and provide comfort during such difficult times. They may offer emotional support and help navigate next steps in managing the condition effectively.

On the other hand, some individuals face challenges when disclosing a herpes diagnosis to their parents as there might be stigma or misunderstandings surrounding sexually transmitted infections (STIs). In such cases, communication barriers can arise due to lack of awareness or misconceptions regarding STIs like herpes.

It's essential to consider factors like your relationship with your parents before deciding whether or how to share this information. If you're concerned about potential negative reactions from them, seeking guidance from a therapist experienced in discussing sensitive topics may be beneficial.

Ultimately remember that dealing with a herpes diagnosis is personal; therefore prioritizing self-care while considering who you'd want by your side through coping could guide these conversations positively.
