So I am in a struggle with it’s telling my parents about my herpes. I am 28 years old , so of course I don’t have to tell them and haven’t for 2 years . But I also live in it them and they like to know about information about who I am potentially dating ( for safety because I have been using online sites ) but it’s tiring having that convo and getting rejected. So want to use this app, but would have to tell them I have it. Or just keep dating and making up lies about why it didn’t work. Idk 😔

It was hard to tell my mom, but once I told her my brother and his girlfriend because at the time of 2022 I lived with them and that’s when I was diagnosed I was so depressed but being able to talk to them and let them know it was like weights lifted off my shoulders, my mother told me she sees me no different but she did say I wish you never told me, she said it’s my personal business and I don’t need to tell anyone obviously only the person I’m in a relationship with but it is totally up to you if you want to tell them, don’t have to if you don’t want to, I see it as it’s not the end of the world your still you☺️

Why do you have to tell your parents you’re on a dating app? My mom knows and has never judged me for it. You’re an adult and you only have to tell the people you’re having sex with.

It sounds like you're facing a challenging situation with regards to disclosing your herpes status to your parents. It's important to consider what feels right for you and prioritizing your well-being.

If telling them about your herpes diagnosis could help ease the burden of having those conversations when dating, it may be worth considering. However, if that doesn't feel comfortable or safe for you at this time, there are other options available.

Using an app like PositiveSingles.com can provide a supportive environment where individuals understand and share similar experiences regarding STDs without judgment. You have the autonomy to decide whom you disclose information about your condition; however, honesty is always key in forming meaningful connections.

Ultimately, trust yourself on how best to navigate this delicate situation while balancing personal boundaries and maintaining open communication channels with potential partners as needed.
