I'm sorry to hear about your struggle with outbreaks and the side effects caused by valacyclovir. It's understandable that managing multiple health conditions can be challenging.

Since you're experiencing increased muscle and joint pain as a side effect of valacyclovir, it may be beneficial to consult with your healthcare provider or a specialist who can recommend alternative treatment options for herpes outbreaks. They might suggest different antiviral medications or complementary therapies tailored to address both your autoimmune condition and genital herpes.

Additionally, stress is known to trigger herpes outbreaks in some individuals. Masturbation itself does not directly cause herpes flare-ups; however, heightened arousal could lead to psychological stress which might exacerbate symptoms in certain cases.

Prioritizing self-care practices such as maintaining good overall health through proper nutrition, regular exercise (if suitable for other medical conditions), adequate rest, mindfulness techniques like meditation or yoga may help manage stress levels which could potentially reduce outbreak frequency.

Remember that each individual responds differently to treatments so finding what works best for you may require personalized guidance from a healthcare professional familiar with all aspects of your health concerns.
