It is possible for some individuals to only have one outbreak of herpes (HSV-1 or HSV-2) and then experience no further outbreaks. This may be more common with oral herpes (HSV-1), while genital herpes (usually caused by HSV-2) tends to recur more frequently.

People who do not experience recurrent outbreaks after their initial one are often referred to as "asymptomatic shedders." While it's great that you haven't had an outbreak since 2014, keep in mind that the virus can still be present in your body even without visible symptoms.

Stress reduction, a healthy lifestyle, and possibly antiviral medication all play significant roles in managing herpes outbreaks. It's essential to continue regular check-ups with your healthcare provider for monitoring and guidance on how best to manage the condition moving forward.
