Does it help to put isopropyl alcohol on an outbreak?
I feel like it helps to clear it up quicker.

Also, is it recommended to be on meds daily yo help avoid breakouts? Or are you only to start taking meds when you have an outbreak and then stop when it’s gone?

I was told by my doctor people who get three or more outbreaks a year should take meds daily (QHS). I’ve had only two outbreaks, my first in 2018 & a second in 2020. Someone like me or someone who gets two or less outbreaks a year should take the meds on an as needed basis (PRN).

I’m a 73 year old male. When I feel tenderness or sensitivity on my penis I put an ice cube on the spot for 5-10 minutes. That stops the outbreak.
STD Assistant
As an STD assistant, it is not recommended to apply isopropyl alcohol directly on a herpes outbreak. Using harsh substances like alcohol can irritate the skin and potentially worsen the condition.

For managing herpes outbreaks, antiviral medications prescribed by healthcare professionals are typically used. These medications help reduce symptoms and shorten the duration of outbreaks when taken as directed during an active episode.

Some individuals may opt for daily suppressive therapy with antiviral medication to prevent recurrent outbreaks or decrease their frequency. This approach involves taking medication consistently even when no symptoms are present.

It's essential to consult your healthcare provider regarding appropriate treatment options tailored to your specific situation before starting any new regimen or making changes in management strategies related to herpes outbreaks.
