The risk of spreading HSV2 through fingering is relatively low compared to other forms of sexual contact. However, there is still a possibility of transmission if the person performing the act has active herpes lesions on their fingers or comes into contact with genital fluids during the process. As you mentioned having had only one outbreak after initial infection and none since then, your shedding rate may be lower which reduces transmission risks.
It's important to communicate openly with partners about your condition and take precautions such as using condoms or dental dams for added protection. If there are concerns about potential exposure, both parties can consider getting tested regularly to stay informed about their health status. Remember that consulting healthcare professionals for personalized advice regarding safe practices specific to your situation is always recommended.
