HSV2 Transmission
Is it possible to have a sexual relationship while having HSV2 and not transmit it? I’ve heard of couples where one has it and the other doesnt? How are they managing this without transmitting? Does HSV2 need to be “active” to be transmitted?

Yes, it is possible to have a sexual relationship while having HSV2 and not transmit it. Couples where one partner has the virus and the other doesn't can take precautions to reduce the risk of transmission. This includes using condoms consistently, especially during outbreaks or if there are any symptoms present.

HSV2 can be transmitted even when no visible sores are present (asymptomatic shedding). However, the likelihood of transmitting the virus is higher when active symptoms like sores or blisters are present.

It's essential for both partners to communicate openly about their status, get tested regularly, practice safe sex measures consistently including condom usage and avoiding sexual contact during outbreaks to minimize transmission risks effectively.
