Yes it can.
Using sex toys that are not regularly washed can potentially introduce bacteria or other pathogens to the genital area, which may increase the risk of triggering herpes outbreaks. It is essential to maintain good hygiene practices with your sex toys by cleaning them thoroughly before and after each use.
HSV-2 (genital herpes) outbreaks can be influenced by various factors such as stress, weakened immune system, friction on the skin during sexual activity, hormonal changes, etc. While using dirty sex toys might contribute as a potential trigger for outbreaks through introducing harmful bacteria or irritating substances to the sensitive genital area; it's important also consider other possible triggers like those mentioned earlier.
To reduce this risk:
- Ensure your own personal hygiene.
- Cleansex toyswellbefore andafteruse
-Trytoavoid sharingthemwithothersto preventthe spreadofinfections
