If you can afford it (GoodRX is a huge help), or can get it thru your insurance cheaply, consider asking your GP to put you on it daily, which is 500mg-1g (I take a single pill of the latter - the size of a large vitamin cap vs 2 500s - because it's cheaper/more convenient). The typical dose of Valtrex for recurrent outbreaks of herpes is 500 mg twice daily for 3 days. It's essential to follow your healthcare provider's instructions precisely and continue taking the medication as prescribed, even if symptoms improve. If you have any concerns or experience side effects, be sure to discuss them with your doctor.
