I’ve been having like burning / chaffing feeling in my anal region for over a week? Could this be a prodromal before an outbreak? Would prodromal last this long?

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing discomfort in your anal region. The burning or chaffing feeling could be due to various reasons, not necessarily related to an STD like herpes. It's important to consider other possible causes such as skin irritation, friction from clothing, hygiene products, diet changes, or even a minor infection.

Prodromal symptoms before a herpes outbreak typically include tingling sensations and mild itching rather than prolonged burning/chafing for over a week. However, everyone's experience with outbreaks can vary.

If the discomfort persists or worsens beyond what seems usual for you (especially if accompanied by blisters/sores), it would be wise to consult with a healthcare provider or specialist familiar with sexual health concerns for proper evaluation and guidance on any necessary testing/treatment options.

Please take care of yourself and don't hesitate to seek medical advice when needed!
