Having antibodies for HSV-2 means that your body has developed a defense mechanism against the virus. However, even with these antibodies present in your system, it's possible to experience outbreaks of herpes because having the antibodies doesn't completely eliminate the virus from your body.

Outbreaks can still occur when there is viral shedding despite having some level of immunity through antibody production. Factors like stress, compromised immune function, hormonal changes or other unknown triggers might lead to reactivation and cause symptoms such as sores or blisters.

It's essential also to remember that while you may have acquired some level of immunity over time due to exposure and subsequent development of antibodies after initial infection with HSV-2; this does not guarantee total protection against future outbreaks.
