Why don’t regular STD panels test for Herpes? Why do you have to get a separate test for it? It seems as though this particular STD is being taking lightly and spread because without any sense of urgency.

In standard STD panels, Herpes (HSV) testing is often not included for a couple of reasons. First off, HSV requires specific tests like a viral culture or molecular test to accurately diagnose the infection since it behaves differently from other sexually transmitted infections in terms of how it presents and spreads.

Secondly, many people who have genital herpes may be asymptomatic carriers which means they don't show any visible signs or symptoms but can still pass on the virus through skin-to-skin contact. This makes it even more challenging to detect without specialized tests because someone could unknowingly transmit the virus.

The absence of routine testing for herpes doesn't mean that this particular STD should be taken lightly though; quite the contrary! It's important to know your status and take precautions during sexual encounters as part of responsible behavior when dealing with potential risks associated with STIs like HSV. If you're concerned about your risk level or think you might have been exposed, getting tested specifically for Herpes would definitely be wise – better safe than sorry!
