Hey there! If you're concerned about potentially giving yourself oral herpes (HSV-2) by performing oral sex on a partner who may have the virus, here's some info to help put your mind at ease. HSV-2 is typically associated with genital herpes and usually spreads through contact in that area.

That being said, it’s still possible for someone infected with HSV-2 genitally to transmit the virus via oral-genital contact. However, self-infection from one part of your body to another (like genitals to mouth or vice versa) is rare but not impossible under certain circumstances like broken skin or mucous membrane exposure during activity like cunnilingus.

To play it safe and reduce any risks – especially if you suspect either party has an STD - using protection such as condoms/dental dams can lower transmission chances considerably. It might also be beneficial for both partners involved in sexual activities outside committed relationships & are unsure of their status seek testing before engaging sexually together.
