The Day I Stopped Swiping #Dating
I almost didn't message him back. Another profile, another maybe. But something about the way he wrote made me curious enough to say hello — and by the end of that first conversation, I already knew I didn't want it to end there. So we didn't wait. The same day we started talking, we met up in person. No games, no "let's take it slow," no three-week text-only trial period. Just two people who felt like they already knew each other, sitting across from one another and realizing the conversation wasn't going to stop.
It turned out we wanted the same things out of a plate of food and out of a life — always chasing the next dish neither of us had tried, always working like it mattered, and always finding a reason to be a little ridiculous the second no one else was watching. He makes me laugh in the exact way I didn't know I'd been missing. I make him laugh back. That's the whole trick, really.
What surprised me most wasn't the chemistry — plenty of people have chemistry. It was how safe it felt, almost immediately. Not safe like boring. Safe like: I can be exactly who I am with this person, silliness and all, and he's not going anywhere.
We're not rushing into anything blind, though. We're doing a real trial — a month of actually living life together before either of us gives up an apartment — because the best love stories aren't the ones that skip the hard questions, they're the ones that ask them and keep choosing each other anyway.
Three days in, I wrote our story down because I already knew: some connections don't need months to prove themselves. They just need you to say yes to the conversation, and see where it goes.
This is where ours is going.
