I'm not the candle lit dinner kind of guy, but if my lady is, I will accommodate her. But my type of first date is getting to know each other and cooking a meal together either at her place, or my place, anywhere but a place where it cost more to tip afterwards than it does for me to buy a week's full of groceries so I can cook at home. I don't bake cookies and cakes, but I make homemade pizza, full meals, chicken, cheeseburgers, and my own specialty called gospel stew.

Rather than writing a bunch of things about myself, I prefer to meet and talk. If there is a connection let's go from there. If not then at least we met and learned something. Just a place we can talk and learn about each other. I feel you can learn alot about someone by their mannerisms.

First date is brief & casual. Bring your dog if you really want me to be smitten. Special date would be seafood near the water at sunset. Brunch is also good. And I love a good sports bar. Go NINERS!

I would say The 'FIRST DATE' is more of a 'Meeting' for an hour or so ...to see if their is any 'Potential' more than anything else!
If you have some of THAT... then you set something up mutually agreeable for a longer time period for the 'next time.'
Of course there are exceptions for a longer date with today's technology, video calling etc that could change a first date possibilities quite a bit!
Obviously I have been out of The loop for an extended time!
Proximity to each other unfortunately....will be a challenge from what I'm seeing so far with people for me.
