Just a lunch date because it takes time to get to know one another so the third date should be the first date and that would be a nice dinner and show or movie what every you would like to do

You have to love first dates.
I got on my best silk shirt, I'm wearing that expensive Cologne I bought at the duty-free shop in the airport in San Jose, the butterflies are starting to wake up in my stomach, I think my breath smells ok, got a single white rose to match the tablecloth, (OMG, does a white rose have some significance?), arrived an hour early just to make sure I got there before her, made plans with my friend to call my cell later with an "emergency" in case I discover she's a serial killer (too much "Dexter"), and memorized some semi-clean jokes about first dates I got off the internet.
The right setting.
It's not the most expensive restaurant in town, but the menu is good and the bar is intimate with a bartender who can make an "exotic" cocktail. Has a piano player who plays what he wants until midnight, then takes requests, except for "New York, New York".
The conversation. Things to avoid.
Politics. Who cares on a first date.
Religion. Not valuable.
Family. Second date stuff.
Pets.
Your worst traffic accident.
Any felony convictions? Second date.
Favorite position. Second date.
Things to talk about.
Music.
Wow, you look great.
What makes you happy, besides politics, religion and family?
What makes you laugh? (Me, I hope.)
I love that color on you.
What is that perfume? Very nice.
Etiquette. Time to be a gentleman. Step it up. Bring the "A" game. She's not your ex-wife. She should not be expected to take care of the tab, at least not all of it. Just kidding here. I got it. Second date. No,no. I got it.
The end of the first date. "Hey, I really had a great time, and I hope we can do this again real soon. Here's my number (really, it's not my dry cleaner's number). May I call you sometime? Can I get your dry cleaner's number? The goodnight kiss. Kiss? Are you kidding me? I do not kiss on the first date. Big rule. If you want a little hug with maybe a little thigh-riding, okay...but no kiss.

I suggest meeting at an agreed-upon location.....maybe for a scoop of icecream, parfait, (it's summer) walk in a park, coffee shop, library, or a walk on the beach...somewhere where we can have a firsthand idea of whom we seek to make contact. We will decide then, how long the first date might/should be, and move on from there. That first encounter will dictate the next.

Since I like beach restaurants/bar... that would be a nice place for first date. Just to see if have anything really in common... breakfast somewhere is always a good idea.. Or ... Starbucks for coffee.

The most important thing we can do on a first date is get acquainted. I think that requires a place that is "conversational". It's the second date where we can process what we leared from the first date to make it a "WOW" event.

First meeting would be over a beverage to talk and check out our chemistry and determine if we both want a first date or not.
Then if we want that date, go to a nice restuarant for a meal, then an after dinner drink and maybe a dance if availabe, then a kiss good night for a nice evening.

We meet in a neutral corner for coffee; okay I hate coffee, maybe hot chocolate or a caramel Frappuccino.
No touching, clenching, biting, or anything below the belt. Then from a safe distance we can consider the possibilities of a rematch.
If we think we click, I would then want to take you out to dinner in a great place. I’ll take care of the restaurant, parking and tip, you can to pick the cuisine. Sort of 50/50, seems fair to me. The second date well, L A got some great venues. Did I tell you I don’t cook. I have a Viking oven and I have never turned it on. I live alone and it’s just easier for me to eat out, less cleaning up. We'll work it out.

My idea of a great first date would be lunch at the Rosell Court at the Nelson Atkins Museum/\.
