I have always liked the casualness of a walk in a park. Watching a squirrel, or feeding the ducks, and pleasant conversation, directed toward interpersonal discovery. The joy of discovering who you are. A now and then, a hug, and perhaps a stolen kiss. an afternoon ice cream cone, then later, a drive to a lakeside restaurant I know, then later, a comfortable evening together.

I guess one of us will go to the others house and pick them up or meet them at a cafe' for coffee or lunch or dinner, whatever the plans were. And since I don't know what the relationship will be just wing it from there.

Dear Charming2002,
Would you be free for tea or coffee and light fare at a time of your choosing at D.C.'s Union Station? There's a two-level bistro very near the middle of the main entrance.

I think a fun date would be to go to Howard Amon Park in Richland, WA, and take a leisurely walk along the river while we get to know each other. After a while, we stop and take out the picnic lunch that I've prepared. We have a cool drink of lemonade and delve into a tasty lunch. We decide to leave the park and drive to the area where the antique and specialty shops are to do a little looking and shopping. We notice that the Richland Players are performing a favorite play, "Of Mice and Men" and note that John Steinbeck is a favorite playwright of ours. We go into the lobby and discover that they have seats available for the 7:30 performance, so we quickly get the tickets. We leave for a short while and go to the gelato shop for a tasty treat and to waste a little time. At the gelato shop, we discover that we have a lot in common and know immediately that we want another date. We drive back to the theatre and take our seats for the performance. At intermission, we stand in line for a glass of wine and start talking to the couple behind us. We drink our wine out on the patio and continue talking to the couple we met in line. They invite us to go to the Mexican Restaurant across the way, "3 Marguaritas" after the play for food and/or drink with them. We join our new friends after the play at the restaurant. They are having live Spanish guitar players, and we are totally immersed in the music. My date takes my hand every so often and gives it a little squeeze, as if to say, "I'm glad I met you." I am finally able to notice his beautiful eyes after obsessing about his mouth and lips all day. I find him very attractive, and the next time he gives my hand a squeeze, I squeeze it back. We say goodbye to our new friends and exchange phone numbers. My date walks me to my car and we vow to next time ride together. We make another date right then and there, and when my date reaches for a kiss, I meet him half way, and we both say, "I had a great time!"

Something fun .... a community event would be nice. Like to keep moving ... walking, laughing, sharing ideas and thoughts. Spontaneity gives you so much more freedom to be yourself.

Let's start with coffee, maybe lunch. I like Brian's on Washington Street, across from the DMV in Hillcrest (nice outdoor patio), or Park Boulevard Eatery on Park Boulevard (big clock and outdoor patio in front), just south of Adams Avenue.
