Some place that is fun. I suppose normal response is out to dinner or get some coffee or something like that but that really isn't fun. It's more like an interview. I'd say go to an amusement park or a baseball game or something with some activities

A place where we can talk and get to know each other. Dinner and a drink is usually a good idea. Baseball games are fun. Nothing super loud or watching a movie...doesn't really work at all.

Our first date..hmmm....a nice lunch with laughing and chatting to get to know each other better. Perhaps I would bring a little gift, from reading your profile. Walking to see sites...if there is any, or just walking with laughter in our hearts..( were clicking ) or learning about my date.
FYI...respect is important to me, if your not interested just be honest. I am fine with that.

How about watching a Rockets, Orlando, or Heat game? I wish football season wasn't over.
I could also beat you in a game of bowling or pool, your choice.

I think the best way to go into a first date is with no expectations. I would like to do something simple, and something we both feel comfortable in doing. First dates can be nerve-wrecking period, why make it uncomfortable. I would prefer something low-key -- like a bar to watch a game, or dinner -- somewhere where conversation could happen.

I like to meet in a public space where we could imagine having a conversation in between doing other things.
I'm assuming we've texted some and talked some before hand, and that we're meeting up in person because we feel a potential connection.
Of course we can eat at any of dozens of great places, but let's go *do* something, too.
My suggestion for things that last from 1-2 hours would include iFly indoor skydiving, Sykart go-kart racing, Pat's acres go-karts, 9 holes at Westmoreland, Pickle Ball or horseshoes at Laurelhurst Park, making some slumped glass pieces, a painting class, a dance night, ping pong, frisbee golf, a walk in the Portland Art museum, mad libs while wine tasting, boards games at a game shop.
We could even meet-up in the 400's (Foreign Languages) of your local library, each pick a a book we've really liked, make the other one check it out, then get lunch and tell each other why they really should read it and what it meant to us.
Bowling, billiards, mini-golf, go-karts, darts?
Restaurants, bars and cocktail lounges tend to be better for chatting than Starbucks .
I feel like we can all do something more interesting than meeting in a Starbucks.
There's no need to drink alcohol if that is not your thing. We don't have to meet in a place that has a liquor license if you want. What if we went to OMSI for a walk-and-talk in the exhibits? or out by the submarine?
Second date could be a brunch cruise on the Portland Spirit, a walk at Kelly Point or in Tryon Creek, or some music out. I like to dance, but my tango is not as good as my West Coast swing, disco and shuffle.
And of course, If we had fun, why not head to dinner after? Or lunch beforehand?
