    It depends on why you're taking it. If you taking it daily for chronic suppression, you reduce you risk of spreading it, but you don't eliminate the risk. If you're taking it to help fight off an outbreak, or even prevent one from coming on, there might be a brief window of time where your outbreaks seem worse while the body, acyclovir, and the virus duke it out. I highly suggest not engaging in sexual contact while an outbreak is being fought, regardless of the existence of blisters and sores.
