Could syphilis cause cancer, or other health problems?

If syphillis is treated in the early stages the bacterium isn't likely to cause serious health problems. Untreated syphillis could cause brain damage, heart problems, nervous system complications, and other body impairments. It usually takes years before syphillis affects the internal organs. An individual with syphillis may not show any signs or symptoms of this disease. It's important to get tested for syphillis each time your tested for STDs.

Keep in mind there're four stages of syphillis. The Primary stage is when an individual in initially infected, the comes the secondary stage and the latent stage. During the late latent stage is when the bacterium could cause damage to the internal organs.

There isn't a high association between syphillis and cancer. Syphillis doesn't cause cancer.This bacterial infection could cancer pregnancy complications. It could also be passed from the mother to the child. The bacteria could be fatal to an infant. it could also cause blindness and other serious health problems It's important to be screened for syphillis during any pregnancy.
