I met my boyfriend on this website around this time last year. I knew he was the one for me from the 1st e-mail and it was the same for him. I was the only member he ever contacted and he says that as soon as he saw my picture that I was who he was looking for. Since he lives in NY and I'm in KY we did not meet face-to-face for a while but we talked to each other for hours every day. We just celebrated our first Valentine's Day together and will be celebrating our 1 year anniversary next month. He is absolutely wonderful. He is loving, considerate and (most importantly) willing to travel. We see each other a few times a month and I'm planning to move there once my daughter goes to college. We still talk to each other for hours and I couldn't imagine my life without him.
Hey,
Just wanted to tell you all out there that this can work. I've been on this for a few years..... Another no pic , no description , blind date. Needless to say I had NO expectations having done this SO many times before.
GUESS WHAT?????
She's a KNOCKOUT !!!!!
Attraction is what brings you in but it's not what makes you stay. She's a great mother & a great person & my kids love her.
Obviously...... I concur.
Thank you

I was newly diagnosed with HIV in September of '08. I believed that my life was pretty much over when I received this news. I found out about this webside through a support group that I had recenlty joined. Love was the last thing that I had on my mind. I was seeking friendship and support...mostly, I felt scared and alone in the world. I could only hope for someone that could relate to what I was going through. Little did I know, that the love of my life was waiting for me in Kentucky, while I was here in Washington, DC. He is not positive for HIV, but we believed that our connection is strong enough, and will perservere, it is worth the ups and downs that life will throw at us in the future. He does not see me as a virus, he sees me as a human being, and that is what makes him so special to me, my soulmate. He has sold his home, and is getting ready to move in with me in the next few weeks. We are now discussing wedding plans, and cannot wait to start a family together someday...

Advice to other members:
Do not feel that because there is a small part of you that is labeled as a disease, that this is what defines you. Hold off until you find someone that appreciates you for who you are as a person, and sees right past your label and appreciates it as part of the whole you, and comes to love it as just a small part of who you are.
After my third child was born, I tested positive for Herpes II. What an astonishing discovery after so many years of being undiscovered. Although we divorced after 17 years together, my husband did not have this disease. I later had a 5 year committed relationship with a man who also did not get this disease. None of my four children had any fallout from my illness. All were delivered vaginally, and in healthy condition. It is possible to have a happy existence, bear children, and live in a committed relationship without imposing this disease on another. This is just a word of experience for those with this STD who wish to start a family.
I hope I have as good of luck as others do who find their soul-mate here.
Congratulations! We are so pleased that you met someone wonderful here, and we'd love to hear any kind of successful experiences. You are living proof our site works.
