STD clinic offers expanded hours
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department’s clinic for sexually transmitted diseases is expanding its hours.
The clinic, at 227 East Chestnut Expressway, will now be open during the lunch hour each weekday and on Wednesdays the clinic will remain open until 6 p.m.
“Offering even just a few additional hours each week will make it that much easier for people to make healthy choices and do the right thing,” Kendra Findley, administrator of community health and epidemiology, said in a news release.
The release says testing is free, except for hepatitis B ($30). Testing is confidential and not restricted to Greene County residents. Tests are done using urine or blood draw, with the exception of genital herpes.
In 2011, the clinic consulted with more than 3,000 clients, administering more than 1,100 treatments following positive test results, the release says.
Testing is offered for Chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital herpes, hepaitis B and C, HIV, syphilis and trichomoniasis. No appointment is necessary.
